This token depicts poilus during the battle of the Chemin des Dames, the second battle of the Aisne during the First World War, or the "Nivelle offensive".
The battle began at 6 a.m. on April 16, 1917, with the French attempt to break the German front between Soissons and Reims towards Laon, under the orders of General Nivelle: "The time has come, trust, courage and long live France!
