This token depicts poilus during the battle of the Chemin des Dames, the second battle of the Aisne during the First World War, or the "Nivelle offensive".The battle began at 6 a.m. on April 16, 1917, with the French attempt to break the German front between Soissons and Reims towards Laon, under the orders of General Nivelle: "The time has come, trust, courage and long live France!
