Located near the town center of Hauterives (Drôme), to the east of the town hall, the palace is both a hymn to nature and a highly personal blend of different architectural styles, with inspirations drawn as much from the Bible (caves of Saint-Amédée and the Virgin Mary, a Calvary, the Evangelists...) as from Hindu and Egyptian mythology.Entirely built by one man, the monument is 12 metres high and 26 metres long, and its various parts (mostly stones picked up along the way) were assembled with lime, mortar, cement and metal reinforcement (a precursor of the "reinforced concrete" technique).https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palais_id%C3%A9al
