The Pavillon du Futuroscope, symbol of the Park, is the very first pavilion, whose construction began on December 11, 1984 with the laying of its foundation stone by René Monory, President of the Conseil Général de la Vienne and father of the project. At the very beginning of the project, in 1983, only this building was envisaged. It was intended to showcase the department's IT and NICT achievements. This planned building was named Observatoire du Futur, then Futuroscope, even before the decision was taken to create a larger space, the Parc du Futur, in 1985. Then, by extension, the name Futuroscope came to describe the park as a whole from the moment it opened in 1987. The "Futuroscope" building was renamed, more or less subtly, "Pavillon du Futuroscope". https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/FuturoscopePrice
