The Futuroscope Pavilion, symbol of the park, is the very first pavilion, whose construction began on December 11, 1984 with the laying of its foundation stone by René Monory, president of the Vienne General Council and father of the project. At the very beginning of the project, in 1983, only this building was envisaged. It was to present to the public the achievements of the department in the field of computer science and NTIC. This building was named Observatoire du Futur, then Futuroscope, even before the decision to create a larger space, the Parc du Futur in 1985. Then, by extension, the name Futuroscope qualified the park as a whole from its opening in 1987. The "Futuroscope" building was thus renamed, more or less subtly, "Pavillon du Futuroscope".Price
