The status of the Virgin and Child, which is made up of three stone fragments discovered during an excavation site in the Rue de Fürstenberg in 1999. The sculpture, probably intended to decorate the portal of the former chapel of the Virgin, was probably left unfinished due to a cutting accident and reused in the foundations of a wall. The rough character of the crown and the features of the Virgin's face, with her head slightly tilted forward, make this work a moving and high quality example of Parisian sculpture from the middle of the 13th century.Price
