Comment
The archaeological crypt under the forecourt of Notre-Dame de Paris was built to protect the remains discovered during the excavations carried out from 1965 onwards by the Commission du Vieux Paris (Department of Architectural History and Archaeology). This space opened its doors in 1980 with the aim of presenting the elements of the buildings that succeeded one another on the site from Antiquity to the 19th century. The archaeological crypt is located under the square and is accessed by stairs located opposite the cathedral, near the Police Headquarters.
