Comment

We don't know what happened to this cathedral during the Muslim occupation of Septimanie and Carcassonne in 725. After Pepin the Short took Carcassonne in 759, tradition has it that Charlemagne raised the church of Saint-Nazaire. The first authentic text to mention Carcassonne cathedral under the invocation of Saint Nazaire dates from 925, under bishop Gimer. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basilique_Saint-Nazaire-et-Saint-Celse_de_Carcassonne
