In 1431, Louis d'Amboise, a member of the noble family, took part in a plot against Georges I de La Trémoille, a favorite of Charles VII. Unmasked, he was initially sentenced to death, but was later pardoned. His castle, however, was confiscated in 1434. From then on, Amboise became part of the royal domain and soon became a royal residence. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_d'Amboise
