Oblong in shape, the fort is located 2,900 m from Ile d'Aix and 2,400 m from Ile d'Oléron. It measures 68 meters long by 31 meters wide13 , with a floor area of 2,065 m2 and a total area of 2,689 m2. The inner courtyard is 43 m long on the axis, 12 m wide and has a surface area of 565 m2. The perimeter walls rise 20 m from the foundations. It can be seen from Fouras, from the island of Oleron, from the bridge linking the south of the island to the mainland, from the Chassiron lighthouse on a clear day, at the extreme north of the island, as well as from a good part of the island's east coast, notably from Boyardville, but also from the town of La Rochelle and, of course, from the west coast of the island of Aix. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Boyard_(monument)Price
