The Jeanne-Elisabeth was a Swedish merchant brig wrecked off Maguelone on November 14, 1755. At the time of its sinking, the Jeanne-Elisabeth was carrying 200 barrels (560 m3) of wheat, tobacco, wine, dye bases (cochineal and indigo) and 24,360 silver piastres (around 659 kg of silver in coins), which were being secretly transported to Swiss bankers in bags hidden in the wheat.
