Legend has it that Saint Trophime arrived in Arles around 46 AD. The starting point for this legend is the homonymy with St. Paul's companion, a pagan from Ephesus who accompanied him on his third missionary journey. But the unlikely date and the fact that he fell ill in Miletus (2 Timothy 4:20) without continuing to follow the apostle would tend to invalidate the legend.According to Gregory of Tours, he was one of the seven missionaries sent by the bishop of Rome to evangelize Gaul, along with Saturninus in Toulouse and Austremoine in Auvergne; he was thus the founder of the Church of Arles in the 3rd century as the first episcope. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trophime_d%27Arles
