The Montmajour complex comprises a hermitage (11th century), a medieval monastery (12th century), a watchtower (14th century) and a classical monastery (early 18th century).Saint-Pierre de Montmajour Abbey was a Benedictine abbey founded in 948, about four kilometers northeast of Arles in the Bouches-du-Rhône département (France). By the end of the 10th century, it had become one of the richest abbeys in Provence, and the monastery expanded between the 11th and early 18th centuries with the construction of a series of religious and military buildings. Abandoned at the end of the 18th century and severely damaged after the French Revolution, this architectural ensemble is now listed as a historic monument...
