Comment

This coin I believe is a souvenir token from the mission. It has the pepper tree one rev. This miossions claim to fame as having the first Pepper tree. In 1832, sailors from Peru landed at San Juan Capistrano Mission and made their way to San Luis Rey de Francia Mission to the south. They brought with them pepper tree seeds and shared some with the Friars there. The token is non magnetic metal. Possibly nickel or stainless steel.
