THE VISIT OF THE EMPEROR NAPOLEON III TO QUEEN VICTORIA I
APRIL 1855
Comment
From April 16th to 22nd 1855, Napoleon III and Eugénie stayed in England. They were received at Windsor Castle on April 18th. This visit is a great diplomatic success.
Later that year on August 18th, Victoria and Albert de Saxe-Cobourg arrived in Boulogne-sur-Mer. No English sovereign had come to France since the 15th century. The Universal Exhibition is held at the same time in Paris. The Royal couple leave on August 27th after several visits and celebrations.
