This medal marks the 100th anniversary of the Ukrainian revolution of 1917 – 1921, and the establishment of Ukraine’s first central bank. One of the first pieces of legislation issued by the Central Council of the Ukrainian People’s Republic was a law establishing Ukraine’s State Bank. The bank played an important role in Ukrainians’ struggle for independence at that time, and provided them with valuable banking experience.
