- Guillaume Couillard was the first French settler in New France ennobled by King Louis XIV. (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guillaume_Couillard).
Guillemette Hébert arrived with her family in Quebec in the spring of 1617. When her father died in 1627, she became responsible, with her husband, Guillaume Couillard, for the family patrimony.
