Comment
When Valtice became the residence of the Lichtensteins, the role of Lednice changed into the summer residence. The chateau with an adjacent park is one of the most visited monuments in the Czech Republic; each year thousands of visitors are heading there.Originally a Gothic water fortress protecting the entrance to the country was converted into a Renaissance chateau, which was rebuilt in the late 17th century in the Baroque style. The chateau gained its present form, which is a masterpiece of English Gothic, in 1850.
