Comment

Antoine Parmentier was born in Montdidier (Somme department) in 1737. A pharmacist, military officer, agronomist and nutritionist, he worked extensively on potatoes, sugar cane and grapes, and even opened a bakery school. The obverse of this medal features the statue that honors him in his hometown.
