Comment
At the time of the death of King Willem III In 1890, Princess Wilhelmina was only 10 years old. Her mother, Emma van Waldeck-Pyrmont, took over the royal duties as regent. During the reign of Willem III, the support of the population for the monarchy waned. During the years 1890-1898, Emma and Wilhelmina often appeared in public by visiting cities and villages throughout the country. The medal offered here was then often worn with pride by the population. On September 6, 1898, Wilhelmina was inaugurated in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam.
