Comment

Mathilde was born on January 10, 1973 in Uccle and grew up in the Walloon village of Villers-la-Bonne-Eau. She graduated magna cum laude from the Institut Libre Marie Haps (Haute Ecole Leonard de Vinci) as a speech therapist. She has had her own practice in Brussels and also works part-time at a primary school. In 1998, she began an academic course at UCLouvain in Louvain-la-Neuve, where she graduated with distinction as a licentiate in psychology.
On December 4, 1999, Mathilde marries Crown Prince Filip, with whom she has four children. Princess Elisabeth (October 25, 2001), Prince Gabriel (August 20, 2003), Prince Emmanuel (October 4, 2005) and Princess Eleonore (April 16, 2008). After the abdication of King Albert II on July 21, 2013, Mathilde becomes the first Queen of the Belgians to be born in Belgium. In addition to her activities as Queen of the Belgians, Mathilde is very socially involved. For example, she has various side activities that are close to her heart. Such as sustainability, healthy food and good education.
