Beatrix Wilhelmina Armgard, Princess of the Netherlands, Princess of Orange-Nassau, Princess of Lippe-Biesterfeld was born on January 31, 1938. She is the eldest child of the marriage of Queen Juliana of the Netherlands and Prince Bernhard of Lippe-Biesterfeld. Beatrix has three sisters : Irene, Margriet and Christina.
Beatrix studies in Leiden, where she lives at the Rapenburg. Her education is entirely focused on her future as head of state. She attends lectures in sociology, economics, parliamentary history, jurisprudence, constitutional law, European law, international law, history, the Statute of the Kingdom, current international politics and the culture of Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles.
Beatrix marries the German Claus von Amsberg and has three children; Willem-Alexander, Johan Friso and Constantine. She was Queen of the Netherlands from April 30, 1980 to April 30, 2013.
Princess Beatrix is having a hard time with the death of her husband, Prince Claus, and son Johan Friso after a skiing accident. From February 4, 2014 she officially lives again in Drakensteijn Castle. Noordeinde 66 in The Hague has been her pied-a-terre since 2014 and also the location of her secretariat.
