1817 Waterloo Bridge Dedication Silver Medal, BHM-961, Eimer-1091. BHM-961. Silver, 26.8 mm, 11.1 gm. Dies by Thomas Wyon, Jr. Issued to commemorate the opening of the Waterloo Bridge in London on June 18, 1817, two years after Wellington's victory over Napoleon at Waterloo. The obverse features a left-facing laureate bust of Prince Regent George, Prince of Wales (later becoming King George IV) with Latin legend around. The reverse centers upon the Royal banner of arms with WELLINGTON above and WATERLOO / DIE IUN 18 / 1815 below. The edge contains incuse lettering defining the purpose of the medal: PONTE WATERLOOENSI DEDICATO IUN 18: 1817: (Waterloo Bridge dedicated June 18, 1817).Price
