The medal was awarded by the Pretoria Caledonian Society who hosted the Pretoria Highland Games from shortly after WWII until the late 1980's. The Pretoria Highlanders Pipe Band then took over the hosting of the competition under the auspices of the Pipe Band Association of SA and the Scottish Highland Association of SA. The hosts are currently Pretoria Boys High School. This medal was awarded (1st place) to someone in the dance competition or the solo piping or drumming competitions.
