Comment
Peter de Regalado was born on Costanilla (“Steep”) Street. This street was renamed Platería after a fire destroyed a portion of Valladolid in 1561.
The painting The Miracle of the Tamed Bull (“El milagro del toro amansado”) (Museo Nacional de Escultura, “National Museum of Sculpture”, Valladolid) tells a story by Peter de Regalado: leaving a convent towards Valladolid, he was praying with a companion and a bull that had escaped from a bullfight appeared toe them; Peter approached the bull and after crying out to heaven, he ordered it to crouch down and the animal submitted to him.
