Comment

Peerdeke is the name of silver coins from the sixteenth century in Spanish Netherlands, depicting a rider on a horse. Peerdeke is Dutch dialect for horse. This medal is a souvenir from the castle Huis Bergh and is a modern resemblance of the coins that were made by Count Willem van den Bergh made around 1560. In this same period cities like Nijmegen and Roermond also made there own peerdekes (see references).

The medals were minted in silver, aluminium and tin.
