Comment
Dogan-6475The combined fleets entered the Bay of Navarino on 20 October and anchored against the Turkish Fleet commanded by Ibrahim Pasha, intending to intimidate them. The attempt by the boats from H.M.S. Dartmouth to move the fireships brought on the general action which was fought at anchor. Losses were heavy and it was considered an "untoward event".
