Lester Pearson had promised the nation a distinctive Canadian flag and the controversial red and white maple leaf design was first raised on Parliament Hill on February 15, 1965.
Le drapeau distinctif que Lester Pearson a promis est adopté après de vifs débats. L'unifolié rouge et blanc est hissé sur la colline du Parlement pour la première fois le 15 fév. 1965.

Comment
This was part of a series of 100 historical medals in 2 volumes of 50 made by the Wellings Mint (Wellings Mint was assimilated by the Franklin Mint in 1973). There was a limited run of around 1000 I believe, which is why the edge is numbered.
Made in bronze and sterling silver versions.
