Reichel 1150 (AR) (R3)Alexei was born in Moscow, the son of Tsar Peter I, and was raised by his mother. The relations between Alexei and his father were severely strained by the hatred between his mother and father. Eventually, Peter I removed the mother, placed her in a convent, and Alexei was raised by educated foreigners. In 1711 Alexei was married to Princess Charlotta of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, much to his dismay. The marriage was a failure from the start. Charlotta died in 1715, an unhappy Alexei fled the country, only to be forced back to Russia and die by torture at the hands of his father.
