The Glendinning Company issued this set of small bronze medals in 1969 at the time of the Apollo 12 mission. The set featured a brief mission summary on the back of each medal. Subsequent releases were in aluminum and had the words "Man in Space" on the backs. Shell oil also distributed a variation that replaced the words with the shell logo instead.
Glendinning Companies, Inc. produced the game pieces, game prizes, and all the associated promotional materials. Glendinning used their newly-created subsidiary, The Danbury Mint, to strike the medallions and medals.
