Hannut (in Dutch Hannuit) is a French-speaking town in the Walloon region of Belgium, in the province of Liège, in the Hesbaye region. The Hesbaye region has a thick, rich loess cover inherited from the last Ice Age. This loess layer makes it one of the most fertile regions in the world.
