Since becoming king, Willem-Alexander and his family have been in the spotlight of the Dutch people even more than before.

As head of the nation, Willem-Alexander gives substance to his unifying, representative and encouraging role. Of course, he has the support of his wife Queen Máxima. The children, Princesses Amalia, Alexia and Ariane, are also increasingly making a contribution. Of course, the role of Princess Amalia of the Netherlands as intended heir to the throne will be the greatest. Despite the fact that Willem-Alexander's family is of course in the spotlight of the media, the king and his wife Queen Máxima have always tried to give their children as normal a childhood as possible, away from these media. With the media code created by Willem-Alexander, that worked well for a long time. But with the growing interest of new media in the royal family and the rise of the smartphone, that is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve, especially for the Crown Princess.

The youngest princesses of the family are somewhat less in the public eye. Princess Alexia hopes to finish her secondary education in Wales, while Princess Ariane will continue her education in Italy.

Despite all these changes, the family still tries to get together as much as possible, just like Willem-Alexander's parents did with him and his brothers.
