Canada's 18th Prime Minister
He was born Sept. 18th, 1895 in Grey County, Ontario. At an early age his family homesteaded near Borden, Saskatchewan, where his father taught school. Educated at the University of Saskatchewan. He was first elected a member of federal parliament in 1940. He became Progressive Conservative Party Leader in 1956 and was sworn into office as Prime Minister of Canada in June, 1957.
This commemorative coin was struck in honour of his 80th birthday, Sept. 18th, 1975.
