Pope John Paul II. visited Czechoslovakia in April 1990 less than year after Velvet Revolution, when communist regime ended in Czechoslovakia and religious freedom was granted. He visited Prague and Velehrad (both in Czech Republic) and Bratislava (Slovak Republic).John Paul II. was the pope in years 1978 - 2005 (the third longest pontificate in history). He was beatified in 2010 and later declared to be saint by Catholic Church in 2014.
