Comment
Charlotte (George III) gold Coronation Medal 1761 Eimer-696, BHM-66 (RRR). By. L. Natter. Struck on the coronation of George III with the likeness of his wife, Queen Charlotte on display; on the obverse, her draped bust is depicted, while the allegory fame is crowning her on the reverse. A very rare medal, and certainly among the nicer extant of this often well-handled official issue, with sharp detail to the highest points and relatively few marks. Light disturbance of the luster is noted above the bust on the obverse for accuracy's sake, but it remains within the confines of the grade. For comparison sake, we sold a MS61-graded example of a similar type (BHM-65), produced without the reverse legends in ribbon, for $9,775 in our September 2011 Signature auction.Price
