Comment
Brown: This box medal contains thirteen coloured printed discs depicting the principal engagements of the campaign: Vimiera, Douro, Talavera, Bussaco, Albuera. Ciudad Rodrigo, Badajoz, Vitoria, Pamplona, San Sebastian, Toulouse, Salamanca and Waterloo.
The endpapers affixed to the lid and base are identical and are inscribed 'The Battles of the British Army in Portugal, Spain and France from the year 1808 to 1814' etc. There are two varieties of coloured discs; some have the name of the engagement below the scene whilst others do not. All the discs illustrating Waterloo seem to have the name, however. The medal is sometimes found in its original leather case with gold tooling on the lid.
