Britannia standing right, trampling on Envy and placing coronet on head of Walpole

Script: Latin

Lettering:
ENVY SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST THEE.
MDCCXLII.

Translation: To the memory of Maria Clementina, Queen of Great Britain

Engraver: Johann Lorenz Natter

Comment

Hawkins: This medal was executed by Laurence Natter soon after Walpole had been driven from power by his political opponents, and had been raised to the peerage by the King. His friends attributed the opposition to envy and jealousy.
