The Genootskap van Regte Afrikaners was an organisation foundational to the establishment of Afrikaans as an official language in South Africa. They were established in the Western Cape town of Paarl in 1875. This medal was issued to celebrate the organisation's centenary in 1975 and the Afrikaans Language Monument, which overlooks the town, was opened the same year.
