Comment

Alfred Amédée Dodds, born in Saint-Louis du Sénégal on February 6, 1842 and died in Paris on July 18, 1922, was a French general of mixed Anglo-French-Senegalese descent who was the superior commander of French troops in Senegal from 1890 onwards. In 1892, he entered Abomey, capital of the kingdom of Dahomey, at the head of a column of French colonial troops and placed the kingdom under the exclusive protectorate of France.
