Charles Philippe Germain Aristide Pillet was born in Paris, in the 14th arrondissement, on July 20, 18692 and died, in the same city and arrondissement, on February 2, 1960. He was a French sculptor and medalist. Son of statuary artist Charles Marie Isidore Pillet, Charles Pillet studied with Henri Chapu and Jules Chaplain at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. He won the first Grand Prix de Rome in medal engraving in 1890 and became a member of the Société des Artistes Français in 1898.
He engraved the "Caballito" 1 peso coin issued by Mexico from 1910 to 1914, and the 5, 10 and 20 lepta coins issued in Greece in 1912.
