Comment
This is part of a nine-coin series produced by Windsor Mint commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of Decimalisation in 2021. Each coin features a pre-Decimal (£sd) denomination, dated to the last year each was produced; however, this farthing is dated 1953, the first during Elizabeth II's reign. More were minted in 1954, 1955 and 1956, but no more, so technically 1956 would be the last year of mintage. Interestingly, the 1953 obverse legend included 'BRITT OMN' (all the Britons), which was dropped on the 1954-6 variants - the farthing on this commemorative coin is dated 1953 but lacks 'BRITT OMN' in the obverse legend, which means this design is therefore technically inaccurate! The series is displayed in a cushioned wooden box with an overall certificate of authenticity for the series, as well as individual certificates for each coin.
