Comment
This medal was issued with a pressed metal suspension badge showing the royal coat of arms, shown here. The Grey Institute was a school built in 1859 on land granted by the governor of the Cape Colony, Sir George Grey. The school moved to larger premises in 1915 but the building has been restored and is now a national monument and houses partly the Greenwood Primary School.
