A sailing boat (possibly a gundalow*) in a river with the shoreline and town's skyline in the background and the artist's initials in the three o'clock position.
*Bob Heath described the boat as a sloop, however, the rigging more closely resembles that of a gundalow, a shallow bottomed cargo boat common on the Piscataqua River and Portsmouth Harbour during the Colonial Period.
