Comment

Christian IV began the siege of Kalmar on May 3, 1611, as indicated in the cover of the medal. On May 27, 1611, the Danish troops succeeded in invading the city, the Swedish soldiers entrenched themselves in the castle. It was not until June 11, 1611 that Charles IX arrives, but with his army he could not liberate the city even in fierce battles. After the Danes received further reinforcement at the end of July 1611, Karl IX retreats. On August 3, 1611, the Swedish commander of the castle, Kristoffer Some, negotiated the surrender. The execution of the castle on this medal did not happen in reality.
