Comment

Charles Jean-Baptiste des Galois de La Tour de Gléné was born in Paris on March 11, 1712, the son of Jean-Baptiste Charles des Galois de la Tour. He was appointed Conseiller au Parlement d'Aix on July 9, 1735, then Maître des requêtes on August 7, 1738, replacing his father. He was appointed Intendant of Provence in 1744, a position he held until 1790 after a brief interruption from September 1771 to August 1775. On April 1, 1747, he was appointed First President of the Parliament of Aix, a position he also held until 1790 (except during the Maupeou government). He was arrested in 1793, but released on 9 Thermidor. He died in Paris on January 23, 1802 (3 pluviôse an X).
