These Half Dollar size California Bicentennial medals actually contain copper left by an early Spanish Expedition, found on the old mission grounds in Santa Clara. The obverse portrays a scene of the Portola Expedition and the reverse displays a map of California depicting San Jose as the first State Capital.Medal dated: 1769-1969
