Republic gold "Battle of Ayacucho Centennial" Medal 1924 51mm/98g. Obv: Antonio José de Sucre returning sword to sheath in foreground with mountains and sun in background; 9 DE DICIEMBRE / 1824 resides inside the sun. Rev: Olive branch at left with 8-line inscription at right reading, EL PERU/ EN RECUERDO/ DE SUS/ LIBERTADORES/ PRIMER CENTENARIO/ DE LA BATALLA DE/ AYACUCHO/ 1924. A fabulous large-format gold medal struck with a quasi-matte finish. Quite nice for the grade and undoubtedly very rare.
