BMO crest on the reverse, "The two aboriginal on either side of the crest shows the institutionalized trade relationship that built Canada's economy. The images of a rose, clovers, beaver and Elm branch accented by the French Fleurs De Lis signifies the control of raw natural resources through commerce. On the crest is written the words: Concordia Salus, latin for "Well-being through harmony", as many know this is the motto for the fair city of Montreal."
