The Tengyun was one of the first steam locomotives in Taiwan. It was one of the two steam locomotives purchased from Aktiengesellschaft für Lokomotivbau Hohenzollern Germany by the Qing Dynasty Taiwan governor Liu Mingchuan in 1888.
