MAYOR OF HIROSHIMA
A-BOMB DOME
At 8:15 a.m., August 6 th, 1945, the Atomic Bomb ex-
ploded with a tremendous flash
570 meters directly above
this building, instantaneously reducing the City of Hiroshima
to cinders. The impact of the terrific blast striking it per-
pendicularly from overhead prevented it from being blown
to pieces, and thus its skeletons remain to this day as a
sole witness to the great catastrophe.
