The Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit is a motor racing track in Midrand, near Johannesburg, South Africa. The circuit was the home of the South Africa Grand Prix every time the race was run from 1967 onwards. The first races at Kyalami were held in 1961 and the circuit is still in use for local racing in 2023.This medal commemorates the circuit's 50th anniversary in 2011, but shows the more traditional track layout last used for racing in 1987, and changed in 1988. This is the reason for the date anomaly on the obverse.
